Dr Cassie Zhou had been working as a GP in China for many years before deciding to come to Australia. “Practicing medicine in rural Australia has been my dream for a long time”, she says.
It was 2015 when she passed the Australian Medical Council (AMC) Clinical examination and Occupational English Test (OET), and was introduced to Leongatha Healthcare, whom she instantly connected with as a practice that held highly the same values and work ethic she did. “We were pleased with each other” she remembers, but the practice wasn’t too sure how to best assist her in pursuing her career here in Victoria. It was then that she began initial contact with HWAV and her ideal pathway was made clear. “Things became so much easier with the guidance and support”.
Dr Zhou passed her first PESCI assessment interview in March of this year, and she thanks HWAV wholeheartedly for the assistance. “I couldn’t imagine how I could get things done without the strong support of HWAV”, she says.
The next step for Dr Zhou is to make the move to Australia.
With the assistance of RWAVs recruitment team and migration agent who HWAV work closely with, she has now successfully received her medical registration and approval letter from AHPRA and now waits patiently for her working visa to be approved before she starts work at Leongatha Healthcare.
For the mean time Dr Zhou continues full-time work in China with her husband and two children by her side. Now closer to achieving her dream than ever before, she sends many thanks to HWAV and is looking forward to the future.
